Really, guys? I really, really want to believe this is not true. In Great Britain, anyway, this study showed that 68% of men don't use soap after going to the bathroom. This is based on 32 days of observation in "motorway service stations". (Are those like highway rest areas?) Here's the real question, though: how many of the 68% who don't use soap just skip the sink altogether? I'm sure I don't actually want to know the answer to that question.

I use soap and wash throughly - though something you should keep in mind is that it is theoretically possible for a man to go to the bathroom without actually touching anything but your zipper and the outside of your pants.

It's a good theory, DBB, but I think most men would agree that experimentation with that technique typically produces sub-optimal results. Especially when it's cold (as I'd expect to be the case at a British rest stop) or when the shape of the receptacle is conducive to splashback.

Lesson #1 in food safety is look for the soap and water every time, gentlemen (and ladies too, for that matter).
